Van Tongeren Kennemer designs, manufactures, supplies and installs complete production systems based on air, gases and bulk products. Common components in these systems include pneumatic conveying, air exhaust systems, filters, flue gas and process fans, cyclones, air and gas channels. Its application is global in food industry and petrochemical industry.

A recent Fortan assignment concerned the construction of the Cassava flour dryer installation. Fortan combined 3-D software programs Tekla Structures and Inventor to model the main design of machine components together with the supporting steel structure. A strength analysis of the steel structure was performed in-house by Fortan using the calculation program Powerframe. The possibility on hand for an intermediate client’s inspection in the digital 3-D model, limited the time to implement changes. The various components such as the oven, sieve, bunker, multiple jacks, screw conveyors and cyclones, could consequently be designed in a compact and accessible general layout. Based on this layout, again using Tekla and Inventor, manufacturing drawings were generated in the final stage of the project.
